Conservation

The re-lining of canvases is one of the most fundamental stages of conservation for obtaining the best results in the final restoration. We are established specialists in this field and our studio is set up to perform this in-house.

The work is carried out with classic manual techniques using the best available natural and synthetic materials, giving a reversible, non-destructive result.

Restoration

In the cleaning stage we use tested and safe solvents to remove the different layers of dirt, varnish and non-original paint, with utmost care for the original surface.

Retouching requires high quality reversible materials with proven UV ray stability. Loss and abrasions are restored to regain a sense of beauty and harmony of the painting as a whole, with maximum respect for the original.

Varnishing concludes the restoration process giving the artwork colour depth and the correct reflection properties.
